U.S. biotechnology company Moderna reported third-quarter 2026 revenue of $1.31 billion and net income of $162 million on November 6. Sales rose 29% from a year earlier, and the company returned to profit from a $200 million net loss in the same quarter of 2025.

Moderna raised its forecast for full-year revenue growth to 15%–25%, compared with its previous outlook of up to 10%. The revised range is the company’s projection, not a completed annual result.

Analysts surveyed by LSEG had expected revenue of $885.1 million and a loss of $1.25 a share, according to CNBC. Moderna instead reported earnings of 38 cents a share, beating expectations on both revenue and earnings.

Higher international COVID-19 vaccine sales and deliveries under long-term government agreements supported the quarter. U.S. revenue totaled $780 million, while international revenue reached $533 million. Chief Executive Stéphane Bancel told CNBC that expansion in Canada, the U.K. and Asia, together with lower costs, contributed to the improvement.

Bancel said the company was benefiting from a fuller year of sales for its next-generation COVID-19 vaccine, which received U.S. approval in May 2025. Because vaccine contracts in the seasonal business are typically arranged in the first quarter, the timing of that approval had limited the product’s initial launch last year, he said.

Moderna’s stand-alone flu vaccine, approved in the U.S. in August, will also have a limited U.S. launch this year because of its approval timing, Bancel told CNBC. In its official quarterly results summary, Moderna also said it had lowered its 2026 GAAP operating expense outlook by approximately $200 million from its previous estimate.
